I bought this volume based on the author's previous work (I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up) and it didn't disappoint.The volume revolves around Mayumi, a middle school teacher who leaves Tokyo for the countryside after getting dumped by her boyfriend. While there, she meets Rin, a rough-around-the-edges girl who becomes her landlord. Mayumi is awkward and reserved, and Rin is boisterous and energetic, but both are hiding deep, personal pain that they are handling in their own way.This is a yuri story, but it's setting up to be more than that. There are the hints of future romance between Mayumi and Rin, but that takes a backseat to Mayumi's struggle to fit in to her new surroundings and her difficulties in getting along with Rin, who is her exact opposite. And the conflict doesn't stop there, as Rin's niece and a neighbor girl (who also happens to be Mayumi's student) also prominently feature in the story.This is a wonderful book and well worth the price of admission. I hope volume 2 doesn't take too long in coming out. Days of Love At Seagull Villa is the newest title from Kodama Naoko, who has given us NTR Netsuzou Trap and I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up!, both of which I enjoyed. If upcoming volumes are as good as this one, we will have another winner. It takes place at a rural seaside region with Mayumi, a young woman arriving to work there as a teacher. She wanted to get away from Tokyo when her boyfriend got her best friend pregnant. She meets Rin, her young landlady, who is a forceful personality. Rin is raising her niece after a car crash killed most of Rin's family. One of Mayumi's students, Ashima, sometimes babysits and Mayumi notes this girl has a troubled history. The first volume proved a fine introduction and pulled a reader into the saga of these hurt souls. Days of Love At Seagull Villa has strong potential and I will look forward to Volume 2.
