This is my first book by this Author and I believe I'll buy more. A shot at Gold was a lovely read the way El and Maddie fell in love was so subtle they just shifted from been coach and student to caring for each other and sharing touches neither wanted to acknowledge but it just came so natural to them and I really liked that.Both characters were fleshed out they both shared their trauma knew their short comings and helped each other find their whole which eventually became their home. I loved that El finally got her family she's been so lonely for so long it was truly heart breaking and I'm glad she's shooting again I only wished we got to experience her in her glory a bit too.Wiles was good she was her first love but I'm glad Maddie realize she could've more than one forever loves because that's what she would've wanted for her. So in closing buy the book of you like sports, the coming together of two lost souls and just an all around good read Madison and Elodie have both experienced loss but deal with that loss in very different ways. They come together to help each other move past they’re grief to start living as opposed to just surviving. Madison’s loss would have been devastating at any age, but experiencing it at the young age of 19 was even more heart breaking. Her honesty and innocence as she copes with that loss are so endearing you can’t help but love her character and experience her emotions with her while reading.
